Bryson DeChambeau Offered a Way Back on the DP World Tour
2026-11-05 · News
Bryson DeChambeau has been offered a way back into week-to-week tour golf. On the day LIV Golf's rescue fell apart, The Telegraph reported that the DP World Tour has told DeChambeau's team he can have full playing status in 2027, as long as he applies for membership.
A week ago he was the biggest name committed to a player-owned LIV 2.0. Now there may not be a LIV to go back to.
What's on the table
- Full status for 2027: he'd be a DP World Tour member with the full schedule open to him.
- No Q-School: Bunkered reports he'd go straight into the tour's top membership category.
- A deadline in mid-November: he has to apply for membership in the next couple of weeks. Reports differ on the exact day, 14 or 16 November.
He already has a DP World Tour start lined up: he's reported to be playing the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa in December, his first regular DP World Tour event since 2022.
Why now: LIV is winding down
LIV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 8 September, after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund said it would stop funding the league after the 2026 season. The plan to save it, LIV 2.0, depended on BC Partners Credit and up to $300 million in financing. This week BC Partners walked away, reportedly because not enough players had committed, and LIV is now heading for liquidation instead of a 2027 season.
That leaves DeChambeau, LIV's biggest American star, with a decision to make. Players who left the PGA Tour for LIV are expected to face a suspension if they go back. Jon Rahm, who left LIV in October, is expecting to sit out about a year. The DP World Tour route would let DeChambeau keep playing full-field tour events in 2027 while that plays out.
He was all in on LIV 2.0
At the end of October, DeChambeau went on Raj Shamani's Figuring Out podcast and backed the relaunch, saying the new player-owned league was "going to be done right" and that his team, Crushers GC, had made money even as LIV's central company went bankrupt. He hasn't said anything publicly about the DP World Tour offer yet.
